When doing product marketing, companies first need to understand what the market is looking for in a product or service. This is because it will help them with their product marketing strategies.

A product marketing questionnaire is a document that asks for information about a specific product or service. This information will help the company know if their product will be successful because it keeps them updated with what the market wants. It also helps them decide if they should continue producing and selling that product.

Below are some of the questions that companies need to ask their customers before they have their product marketing strategies:

  • Do you know of a product like our product? If so, what are its shortcomings?
  • What are its advantages and disadvantages? How can we improve on our current product?
  • Are there other products that are very similar to ours?
  • What are some of the things that you like and dislike about our products/ services?
  • Do you know any changes that could improve our products/ services?
  • What do you feel is lacking in our company’s products/ services?
  • If you were newly hired by this company, how would you improve its products/ services?
  • Do you know of a product like ours? If so, what do you think about it? What features do you think are good and bad in it?  
  • Do you think our products could be improved to compete with this one? If so, how would you improve it and how do we go about improving it? 
  • What do you think of our company’s products/ services in general? 
  • Do you think they could be improved in any way? If so, how and what kind of improvement would you suggest?

Next Step: Make a Strategy

What, then, comes next after the questionnaire? It is now time to make a strategy based on the answers you got. So, you can start with making an idea of what the market wants, and work on it. You can also come up with a marketing mix to sell your products. 

Then, when making a strategy, it is important to make sure that you have done your research first. This is because this step is the most crucial one in product marketing. It is also very helpful when you talk to your clients and market experts.

This strategy can be made in the form of a SWOT analysis. It will include your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats that can affect your product. Then, these factors will help you find out where you are now and where you need to be with your product. 

Once you have a strategy, it is time to make a plan for it. This plan includes the following: 

  • What are your products? What are their features and benefits? And what will attract the consumers to buy them?
  • What are the ways to promote these products? Will you use traditional or online ways?
  • Who are your target consumers? What are their characteristics? And how can they reach them effectively?

In doing so, your strategy will be more effective.
