Product leaders need to be good at communicating to stakeholders what the problem is and how they plan to solve it.

Someone who is not analytical or data-driven will struggle with this.

Product leaders also need to take in data and make decisions based on them. 

But in addition to that, they need to be able to communicate those decisions in a way that people understand why they were made.

A product leader needs to read situations well and understand people’s motivations. They need to listen and figure out what is important for the customer/user/stakeholder etc.

They also need to be able to motivate teams and get everyone moving in the same direction so that everyone is working towards the same goal.

A keen eye for observation

A good product leader needs to be able to observe what is happening in their industry, read the market and understand how customers are responding to their product.

They need to know what needs to be changed and what is working well. They need to be able to tell the difference between these two things and make decisions based on that.

A good product leader also needs to understand the vision of the company, its values, and its goals. 

They need to understand the company’s strengths and weaknesses and align the team towards achieving those goals.


A product leader needs to have a solid understanding of the company’s vision, goals, and values. 

They need to understand the needs of the customers and users and work towards building a product that can solve their problems.

In order to do this, they need to have a strong problem-solving skill set, be able to communicate well, manage their time effectively, and motivate others.
